Photos and review of a breathtaking show. I still cant believe how magnificent this music and light live performance really was! Of course, the Santiago Cathedral was a perfect background: I almost cried the first time that a great blue light dressed the whole façade and a collective gasp arose from the audience. But more emotion was to come. Starting with the first song, "Oxygene 2," it was astounding to listen with such quality of sound to the beauty of the melody played by Jarre as he was wrapped by the bass and percussion, the counter-melodies, and the ultracool effects produced by his three very sharp backing musicians. As the concert went on, enhanced by fireworks, laser rays, and extraordinary, menacing 3D graphics made with the Equinoxe cover, it became clear that Jarre, who excitingly jumped and moved his arms with the enthusiasm of a David Guetta-like dance dj, was going to give his best. By turns, the wonderful music seemed mystical, mysterious, modern, Gregorian, classical and emotionally potent. Some of his virtuoso solos on guitar-shaped synth made him a keyboard Hendrix, with his facial gestures projected on the Cathedrals side-buildings. A couple of songs were too long and at least one sounded bombastic and overblown, pompous. But these were exceptions. His Chinese song was touchingly intimate, the bare accordion sound felt very romantic, and the Unesco piece, with the scary water and population figures, was another moment for inner tears. Kindly, Jarre addressed the crowd and praised this spot as one of the most beautiful places in the world. I felt proud observing with the new chromatic richness the amazing beauty and elegance of this Galician Cathedral, and the audience was nice to the the four masters, worthy companions to the sculpted ones in the Pórtico da Gloria.
