El domingo por la tarde los principales sindicatos de Bélgica organizaron una huelga general para protestar contra las políticas de austeridad anunciadas por el Gobierno del país. Se informa de que la huelga, que paralizará parcialmente la vida en el país, se extenderá hasta el lunes y coincide con la reunión extraordinaria que los líderes europeos celebran en Bruselas. Los primeros en empezar la protesta fueron los trabajadores del transporte.
